Peripheral Arterial Disease & Intervention

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) occurs when blood flow to areas outside the heart—such as the legs, arms, brain, kidneys, or abdomen—is reduced due to plaque buildup inside the arteries. PAD is commonly associated with risk factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking, a high-fat diet, and physical inactivity.

PAD significantly raises the risk of heart attack and stroke. At PULSE, Dr. Farhan Majeed offers expert diagnosis and advanced treatment of PAD, helping patients achieve better long-term outcomes and improved quality of life.

Treatment Options for Peripheral Arterial Disease

We offer a full range of minimally invasive and surgical treatments tailored to the patient’s condition. Common therapies include:

Medications

Drugs may be prescribed to manage cholesterol, lower blood pressure, prevent clot formation, or help open narrowed arteries.

Angioplasty

A catheter with a small balloon is inserted into a narrowed artery and inflated to restore proper blood flow.

Atherectomy

A rotating or laser device is used to shave or vaporize plaque from inside the artery wall.

Stenting

A mesh-like metal tube is placed within the artery to keep it open after angioplasty

Bypass Surgery

A graft—often a vein from the leg—is used to reroute blood around the blocked artery.
